TUUTS TRIP TO JAPAN
During January and February 2005, a number of TUUTS members went to Japan on a goodwill trip and to study Wadaiko with Simon's teacher, Art Lee.
We went to Ikeda City (Osaka), Yaizu City (Shizuoka), and Mie Prefecture, where we were offered homestay, local tours and exchanges with local wadaiko groups. All of us had a wonderful time. Read a personal account by Maria here: Ikeda - Yaizu - Mie
The workshop was held in Achi Vilage in Nagano province, and at the conclusion we took part in a concert (along with Art's group, Tokara) to peform what we had learned.
Participants in the 2005 trip were: Simon Vanyai, Lara Wasilewski, Ana Page, Helen Gouteff, Steve Witt, Maria Grist, James Beattie, Rasa Dunlop and Keryn Fountain.
