On 20 July 2014 the Japanese drumming group Kazedamari came to Hobart and performed in a concert along with Taiko Drum. It was a stunning performance, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our love of drumming with our new Japanese friends.
Workshops coming this week and weekend with the leader of Kazedamari, Makoto Sekine (pictured centre front above). Contact us if you would like to come.
Taiko Doramu (Taiko Drum) is the performance arm of the Tasmania University Union Taiko Society. We can be seen at a wide variety of private and public events as well as community festivals around Tasmania, and welcome your booking enquiry. We run a schools visit program each year, and also hold private and public drumming workshops.
Our group trains in Hobart around three nights a week, with about 50 members attending training sessions regularly, and many others taking advantage of special workshops and other taiko events. New members are always welcome. You don’t need any special skills, just the willingness to have a go.
